Varkala

Varkala beach is the only place in southern Kerala where cliffs are found adjacent to the Arabian Sea. Varkala Beach is situated 39 km north of the capital city Thiruvananthapuram and 28 km south of Kollam. Varkala beach has adventure and leisure activities such as boat riding, parasailing, jetting, and horse-riding. There are also restaurants and cafes. Water spouts and spas occur on the sides of these cliffs. Varkala is also home to the famous Swami Janardana Temple, an important Vaishnavaite shrine and often referred as Banaras of the South. Its numerous religious centres, Ayurvedic Spa and treatment spots and pristine beaches make for a fulfilling holiday.

Ponmudi Hill Station

Ponmudi offers beautiful trekking trails to many other wonders of nature hidden away from the casual eyes. All day you can walk through the promising trails with greater excitement. Trekking to Varayadumotta, the most popular trekking trail in Ponmudi, offers a panoramic view of the hills along with the Nilgiri Tahrs. Considered one of the toughest in Trivandrum, it is 18-km trek (one side). Ponmudi 61 km away from capital city Thiruvananthapuram. The slopes shrouded in mist fill one with a feeling of wonder and amazement. A large amount of rare flora and fauna can be seen here including mountain flowers, wild orchids and exotic butterflies.

Kanyakumari

Kanniyakumari is a popular tourist destination and pilgrimage centre in southern India. Notable tourist spots include its unique sunrise and sunset points. Kanniyakumari is at the southern tip and is the southernmost point of the contiguous Indian Subcontinent. Three major water bodies – the Arabian Sea, Bay of Bengal and the Indian Ocean – converge right here in Kanniyakumari. Such a geographically blessed destination is rare and these features make Kanniyakumari one of the most visited places in India annually. Kanyakumari is situated 90 km from capital city of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram. The nearest town is Nagercoil, the administrative headquarters of Kanniyakumari district.

Valparai

Valparai is a hill station in the south India just. Nallamudi Viewpoint has vistas of the Anamalai Hills in the Western Ghats, and surrounding tea estates. To the northwest, in Kerala, Parambikulam Tiger Reserve is a forested area, with teak plantations and trails, sheltering tigers and Indian elephants. Northeast of town, the Anamalai Tiger Reserve is home to tigers, panthers, elephants and macaques. Valparai is just 82 km from Athirapally. Valparai is also called as “7th Heaven”, This pollution free heavenly land is located above 3,500 feet from the sea level on the Anamalai mountain range.

Fort Kochi

Fort Kochi is a popular tourist destination well known for its aesthetic beaches and age-old monuments. It preserves the historic roots of the Portuguese, Dutch and the British. Fort Kochi is a charming seaside area, Fort Kochi is known for its Dutch, Portuguese, and British colonial architecture, and elaborate bamboo fishing nets at Fort Kochi Beach. St. Francis Church was the original burial site of explorer Vasco da Gama. Upscale eateries and chic cafes serve Keralan specialties, and quaint shops sell cotton clothing and handmade souvenirs. Heritage buildings house contemporary art galleries.

Bekal Fort

Bekal Fort is considered as one of the largest and most preserved forts in Kerala. Nestled in the lap of nature, Bekal Fort is a historic fort surrounded by a beautiful beach offering an enchanting view of Arabian Sea from its high observation tower where once the cannons were placed. The beautiful walkway, illuminated beach and the grand architecture of the Bekal Fort make this place a favourite among the masses. Bekal Fort is a keyhole-shaped lofty structure that stands still against the rocky shores of sea amusing its visitors with its finesse. The whole purpose of erecting this structure by Shivappa Nayaka of Bednore in the year 1650 was pure of defence.

Parambikulam Tiger Reserve

Parambikulam Tiger Reserve is the second Tiger Reserve of Kerala, which is true representative of the assemblage of lifeforms in the Western Ghats. It is one of the 34 biodiversity hotspots in the world. While considering the richness and abundance of Wildlife and the beauty of Nature, Parambikulam Tiger Reserve is perhaps the most attractive landscape in the entire stretch of Western Ghat. This virgin valley and mountains is truly a glorious tribute to the untouched nature.Parambikulam 73 km away from city of Palakkad.

Nelliampathi

Nelliyampathy is a hill station within the Nelliyampathy Forest Reserve, in the southwest Indian state of Kerala. It is a scenic hill station and is situated in Palakkad, Kerala. Nelliampathi is known for its lush green landscapes, tea and coffee plantations, waterfalls, and breathtaking viewpoints. The road to it, which goes through the dense forests of the Western Ghats, is known for its many hairpins turns. To the west is Kesavan Para, a vantage point with views of nearby tea plantations. On the way to Nelliyampathy, tourists can also enjoy Pothundi Dam and surroundings. Sitharkund View Point is amazing which is near to Nelliampathi.

Munnar

Munnar, the famed hill station of south India, is a romantic locale where natural beauty is everywhere to visit, explore and to enjoy. Munnar is situated at the confluence of three mountain streams – Muthirapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundala – and the word ‘Munnar’ means three rivers in Malayalam. Situated about 1600m above sea level, the hill station had been the summer resort of the British Government during the colonial era. Imprints of the colonial past stand tall in the Munnar town in the form of English country cottages. Virgin forests, savannah, rolling hills, scenic valleys, numerous streams, huge splashy waterfalls, sprawling tea plantations and winding walkways are all part of the great holiday experience on offer for a traveler to Munnar. Munnar is also known for Neelakurinji, a rare plant which flowers only once in twelve years. The ‘kurinji season’ in Munnar is a magnificent sight when the hills and valleys get bathed in the blue of the Neelakurinji blooms.

Thekkady

With its lush green hills, spice-scented plantations and rare flora and fauna, Thekkady is considered to be one of the much sought after destinations in Kerala. The Periyar forests of Thekkady is one of the finest wildlife reserves in India.It is one of the oldest tiger reserves in the country and the forests of Periyar is embellished by the presence of endangered species including White Tigers. Thekkady offers boating, trekking, camping and other exciting activities. A guided day trek at Periyar, Periyar Tiger Trail, adventure trekking and camping, border hiking, bamboo rafting, jungle patrol are on offer here.

Kumarakom

Kumarakom is a famous tourism destination located just10 kilometers from Kottayam and 35 km away from Alappuzha. Three sides of Kumarakom are surrounded with Meenachil River and Lake Vembanad. Maximum length and the breadth of Lake Vembanad is visible from Kumarakom. There is always comfortable breeze and the waves in the lakeside of Kumarakom, as the Arabian Sea is on the west of Kumarakom. Sun Set is enjoyable from the bank of Lake Vembanad in Kumarakom. Alleppey

Officially called Alappuzha, Alleppey is known for its network of canals and lagoons with beautiful backwaters and the houseboats offering overnight stays. Located in the southern part of Kerala, the coastline of Alleppey offers some of the best beaches with water sports during the dry season. Alleppey's palm-fringed inter-connect network of canal backwaters attracts a lot of tourists from all over the world. Kuttanad, also called the 'Rice Bowl of Kerala' covers a large part of Alappuzha and is home to lush green paddy fields, lakes and backwaters. Wayanad

Adorning the northern hills of Kerala is the beautiful district of Wayanad, maintained by the District Tourism Promotion Council, Wayanad. This area is famous for its large amount of camping and trekking trails, breathtaking waterfalls, caves, bird-watching sites, flora, fauna and an overall plethora of magnificent sights. People are especially delighted by the range of exotic products including spices, coffee, tea, bamboo products, honey and herbal plants available here. Kanthanpara Waterfalls is one hotspot in Wayanad that allures tourists from all over the world. Apart from these magnificent falls, Wayanad calls you to experience the stunning beauty of Karapuzha Dam, Pookode & Karlad Lake as well. Another must-visit place in Wayanad is the Edakkal Caves. The caves are two natural rock formations believed to have been formed by a large split in a huge rock. The carvings inside are extremely beautiful.

Kovalam

Kovalam is an internationally renowned beach with three adjacent crescent beaches. A massive rocky promontory on the beach has created a beautiful bay of calm waters ideal for sea bathing. The leisure options at this beach are plenty and diverse. Sunbathing, swimming, herbal body toning massages, special cultural programmes and catamaran cruising are some of them. Life on the beach begins late in the day and carries on well into the night. The beach complex includes a string of budget cottages, Ayurvedic health resorts, and convention facilities, shopping zones, swimming pools, Yoga and Ayurvedic massage centres. Athirappilly

Athirappilly waterfalls is Kerala's most famous and largest waterfall. It is situated 1000 ft above sea level on the Chalakudy river, at the entrance to the Sholayar ranges of the Western Ghats, Athirappalli is a scenic combination of forests and little streams.s The sight of the water crashing onto the ground leaves you with a sense of wonder at the sheer power and magnificence of nature. Located around 63 km from Thrissur district, it is a perennial picnic spot for people in the area and beyond. Its surrounding greenery is perfect for walks and picnics with loved ones. Lying at the entrance to the Sholayar forest ranges, it is a part of the Chalakudy River which calls the Western Ghats its home. Barely 5 km away is another family favourite, Vazhachal Waterfalls. These waterfalls became famous for not just their view but the endemic species found in the surrounding dense forests. Researchers have found four endangered species of the Hornbill here, the only place they thrive in the entire Western Ghats.

Vagamon

Vagamon hill station in Idukki is among the few spots on the planet that need to be experienced first-hand to truly discover its glory. The grassy hills, velvet lawns and overall mysticism of the place cannot be replicated anywhere else in the world. This quaint town lies untouched by any modern influences and is neatly tucked away in Idukki district. Visitors can avail many activities including trekking, paragliding, mountaineering and rock climbing. People love travelling across a chain of three famous hills: Thangal, Murugan and Kurisumala. The Kurisumala monks have an enchanting dairy farm nearby that is an absolute delight to visit.

Thattekad

If a birdwatcher dies and is told that he can spend the rest of his time on a paradise he chooses on earth, he might pick a beautiful spot on earth named Thattekkad. Thattekkad Bird Sanctuary with barely 25 square kilometers, which is the first bird sanctuary of Kerala, is also one of the most popular ones in the country. Today the sanctuary is known after his name, Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary. Thattekkad ecotourism with the guided support of tribal guides offers bird treks and stays for the travellers. The cool waters of Periyaar and Kuttampuzha have lent its magic to the place with small waterfalls springing forth in the forest ranges of Urulanthanni and Pooyamkutty making it a paradise of sorts for nature lovers. The sanctuary lies spread out over an area of 25.16 sq km. The distinct forest terrain, open rocky cliffs and an artificial reservoir offers various habitats for a wide range of species, many of which are now known to be rare and endemic.
